THE CLIENT BRIEF
Creating awareness on the Extra Judicial Killings and Enforced Disappearances in Kenya
PBI – Kenya Chapter, through the Missing Voices Coalition (MVC) sought to piggy-back on its relative success in working with communities to end police killings and enforced disappearances in Kenya through the involvement of more youth. The involvement of the youth involved in the fight against extrajudicial executions (EJEs) and enforced disappearances (EDs) has a potentially invaluable resource in amplifying the plight of victims EJEs and EDs. Most prominently, and across the country, there has been widespread information that a majority of victims are the youth aged 18-34. As such, involving more youth in this campaign and its core messaging created more awareness, and reduced their likelihood to fall victim.
The Missing Voices Coalition through MediaForce Communications developed an audio-visual material for digital communications focusing on; What Missing Voices does, experience of families of victims and survivors of extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances, civil society work on and EDs, responsibilities of the government, what can the public do to participate in Missing Voices, data on EJEs and EDs, role of the International Community, and artistic involvement in Missing Voices work.
