Event overview
The German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) and the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB) in partnership with GIZ hosted an international conference “Data-driven Cities: Conference for the Urban Common Good” in Nairobi, Kenya, together with the Kenyan Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy.
This event brought together stakeholders from city and national governments, academia, business, and civil society from Germany, Kenya, Ghana and South Africa. Participants from African cities outside of these countries were equally welcome to attend and contribute. The conference's focus was on how cities and urban areas could leverage data for the common good and explore the role of collaboration between stakeholders and their capacity development in this context. Smart cities leverage technology and data to enhance urban life and sustainability.
